From first email to a name you control
Five stages, in the same order every time. Nothing is paid until a neutral escrow service is holding the money, and nothing is released to us until the name sits in an account you control.
-
You say whether it fits
Most conversations start with a short email from us about one name. A yes, a no or a question are all useful answers. If the name is not right for you, one word back is enough and we will not raise it again.
-
We give one figure
If you are interested, we quote a single price for the name. It is not an opening position to be bargained down from, and the size of your company plays no part in it. You are welcome to ask how we reached it.
-
A short agreement, then escrow
Terms are written up in plain language on one or two pages: which name, what figure, how the escrow cost is shared, and when the move happens. You then pay into a licensed escrow account, for example at Escrow.com, where the money waits while the name changes hands.
-
The name moves to you
If you use the registrar where the name is held, it can be pushed into your account, often the same day. Otherwise we start a transfer to your registrar with an authorisation code; that usually takes five to seven days, depending on the registrars at each end.
-
Escrow releases, and we step away
Once you can see the name in your own registrar account, you confirm it to escrow, and the payment is released to us at that point. We stay available for a few weeks afterwards to help with DNS, email records or forwarding to your current site.
